Tim’s 25 Days of Christmas 2011
An Introduction…
It’s that time of year again, and with that comes the second annual ‘Tim’s 25 days of Christmas’. Last year, I began this blog-of-sorts as a means of spreading a little Christmas cheer and sharing it with the people in my life. I remember feeling the Christmas spirit and wanted to help those needing some support as a way of counteracting the sometimes overwhelming pressure and stress that comes along with the season. How great does it feel when you are able to do something for someone else? What I didn’t anticipate was how well the people in my life would respond to the movement and be inspired to participate.
For those of you who are new to the concept, ‘Tim’s 25 days of Christmas’ is a daily blog during the 25 days leading up to and including, Christmas. Each day, I share a little Christmas music video to get you in the mood for the holidays and I then I also feature a charity of the day. For each day of the campaign I donate $5.00 to a different charity and share the links so that you can do the same. Now, I know that $5.00 isn’t a lot of money, but then again it’s typically the time of year when budgets are tight. The intent was that if people in my network start joining me and matching my meager $5.00 donation, then all of a sudden, that $5 bucks turns into $10, $20, $50, $200 and beyond, and now we are starting to make a difference. $5.00 dollars a day over 25 days adds up to $125.00 over the course of a month that goes towards improving the lives of others. It’s a small sacrifice in my mind during a season that is all about giving and making the world a happier place.
So, tomorrow starts the Campaign off with Day 1 of ‘Tim’s 25 Days of Christmas’. I hope that you will tune in everyday to read my short posts, gain a little Christmas cheer, and perhaps be inspired to follow suit and match my daily $5.00 donation. One favour I will ask of you, is that if and when you do make a donation, please leave me a comment to let me know that you are following along, and to show other’s the impact and momentum that is building. My hope is that many of you will join me in making this season better for someone else.
Even if you can’t make a donation, as I am sure many of us will be hard pressed to do so, it would be very helpful to still take a moment to read the post and leave me a comment about the daily Christmas video. Did it spark some Christmas Cheer in you? Perhaps you spontaneously broke out into song? Maybe the featured video was so good, that it had you singing it all day long. Sorry about that in advance. And of course, sharing each day’s post with your network will only increase the success of this campaign.
Finally, because I aim to make this a community experience, if you have any suggestions for charities in need of support or perhaps would like to suggest your favourite Christmas music video, please let me know. It may already be on the list, or it may find a spot on the 2012 list. Either way, I would love to have you contribute.
I’m excited to start the campaign off tomorrow morning and I look forward to reading all the comments of support, participation and suggestion.
Happiest of Holidays to you and the ones you love,
Tim
